Wisdom that just might be what you need when you need it…

sometime wisdom comes from the strangest places, but it might be exactly what we need to hear, even if it’s just said in a slightly different from the way its been said before!

“You are a human being and your greatest power is your will, or your ability to reason and make your own choices. It’s what commands all other aspects of your life. This power is the only thing that cannot be controlled or taken away from you by anyone, and it is what separates you from the other animals in this world. Don’t forget that you possess this power, and don’t squander it…you can decide what experiences mean to you and you can choose how you’ll react to them. Nobody can take that away from you, not even the gods themselves, says Epictetus earlier on in book one:

I must die. Must I then die lamenting? I must be put in chains. Must I then also lament? I must go into exile. Does any man then hinder me from going with smiles and cheerfulness and contentment? “Tell me the secret which you possess.” I will not, for this is in my power. “But I will put you in chains.” Man, what are you talking about? Me in chains? You may fetter my leg, but my will not even Zeus himself can overpower.” —-from lifehacker.com

To be honest, this was something I needed to hear once more.  I have been trying as hard as possible to force a situation to work,  and rather than realizing that I am the only one who can change.  I cannot change them or what they will do, but I can change my behavior.  It may not be much but it also reminded to let go and let g-d take over.  I’m not trying to convert anyone or make anyone change their positions or beliefs, but the truth is that we have to make informed decisions but sometimes events are outside our sphere of influence–and that is why we sometimes have to give it over to someone whose sphere is MUCH bigger than mine…I will let YOU decide who that may be!

Creative Emptiness

Sometimes the hardest thing in the world is to just be.  Being quiet can be harder than pushing yourself from one thing to the next.  When we are always in motion, there is no time for doubt or reflection or growth and peace.  I struggle to be good to myself because I am always harder on myself then I am on others.  So, my advice to you is to be kind to yourself, cut yourself a little slack and take it one moment at a time.  Remind yourself that everything is temporary and this to will pass.  Find joy in the little things,. Especially your animals and the people in your life.  You have so many blessings including your talent.  Remember that you are incredibly loved by many people, even those who aren’t in your day to day life.

Northern Lights by Debra Dunbar

I was hesitant to read this book because it goes outside of the main Imp World novels.  In fact, this is the story of Raphael and how he finds his match.  Strangely enough, it doesn’t have Sam involved in it.  It was the same irreverent voice, and seeing Raphael meet his match is entertaining.  It’s a good story and has all the elements that make an Imp novel a good read.  Seeing Raphael come into his own as an archangel is almost as fun as watching Sam.  There is a whole new group of werewolves and other were animals to get to know and love.  This story has another love story included so it’s a 2 for the price of 1 story.

Paranormal Romance

Raphael is an Angel of Order. . . sort of. His affinity for chaos makes him the perfect choice to investigate the trespass in Alaska of supernatural creatures not seen in eons. But the locals in Juneau have been keeping a secret for thousands of years –the disgraceful offspring of an angel and a demon. Raphael should execute her on the spot, or at the very least throw her into Hel with the rest of her kind, but Raphael has never been one to follow the rules.

Ahia has lived for thousands of years with the Alaskan natives and werewolves, told that she’s a Nephilim and must stay hidden lest the angels find and kill her. But when interdimensional rifts begin opening up throughout Alaska, swallowing humans and spitting out dangerous monsters, the angels are the only beings who can help.

Of course the angel they send is smoking hot, and demands she assist him in closing the rifts. Far from the stern, enforcer of rules, this angel is fun and flirty, tempting Ahia to drag this project out far longer than she should.

But when one of the rifts takes the local Alpha as well as a group of humans, the situation becomes urgent. Ahia will need to risk everything - her life, her heart, and all she's believed true to bring them home, because whatever the angels might call her, she won’t abandon those who trust her to keep them safe.

Review of Amy Lane’s Rampart Volume 1 — Yay Cory’s Back!

Format: Kindle Edition
The book picks up pretty much where we left off in Bound. There is an odd news story and they send Teague with Mario to check it out. Unfortunately, what they find is a zombiefied Bear which follows them home to the Hill. After a comical battle, in which the fae get their pound of flesh by throwing Bracken at it, they go down and find a young girl who was brutally raped and turned into a vampire and then abandoned. She did what lots of vampires do and returned to her family and brutally killed them. She them started killing wild animals for companions and then trying to convert them so she would have friends. Cory and the Dream Team bring the little vamp back to the hill, but have no choice but to keep her locked in the vamp proof rooms. They trace the pedophile to Redding and go to find out what the heck is going on…and find themselves trapped in a sitcom. Like, really-everything that can go bizarre does! And with this crew thats quite a bit of WTF to try to manage…

Little Goddess: Book Four
Vol. 1

Lady Cory has carved out a life for herself not just as a wife to three husbands but also as one of the rulers of the supernatural communities of Northern California—and a college student in search of that elusive degree. When a supernatural threat comes crashing into the hard-forged peace of Green's Hill, she and Green determine that they're the ones in charge of stopping the abomination that created it. To protect the people they love, Cory, Bracken, and Nicky travel to Redding to confront a tight-knit family of vampires guarding a terrible secret. It also leads them to a conflict of loyalties, as Nicky's parents threaten to tear Nicky away from the family he's come to love more than his own life.

Cory has to work hard to hold on to her temper and her life as she tries to prove that she and Green are not only leaders who will bind people to their hearts, but also protectors who will keep danger from running rampant.

German Shepherd with flower

I don’t think any of my German Shepherds would let me do that to them…I keep thinking about when Fred burned the pads of his paws on the ashphalt and we bought the “shoes” at petsmart..it took him about 5 minutes to figure out how the vecro worked- he then pulled all four of them off and limped over and dropped them in my lap…now that was a German Shepherd
