Serpentine, Serpentine,Serpentine
I was not sure it would ever get here. I got turned down for being an advanced reader and I (probably) deserved it, given the fact that I haven’t been posting since I got sick. In addition, I haven’t been able to focus enough to spend time with some of my favorite characters and my backlog is extremely large, so no questions as to what I am missing or reading now. Some things have popped up and others have been buried along the way. But I have an embarrassment of riches. Truly adored the best man speech and think I needed some of the messages therein. That being said I took some pictures of my signed copy from Left Bank Books, carefully and bought the eversion right at midnight and I devoured it! Sorry for an spoilers I might inadvertantly slip in. I am trying not to! Can’t wait to get the next one which I know is silly but we had so long to wait this. Thank you so much for sharing your inner charaters snark and sarcasm included!
I don’t usually endorse products, but….
So, most of the time I restrict myself to books 📚 because we all know that is my first love but every once in a while I come across something so amazing that I have to share it. For those of us who have long hair, it used to be that we would wrap a towel around and create our own turban. Then, someone came up with the idea to make a special towel and the turbo twist was born. There are a couple of variations, one with a button, another you could put in an elastic on the back and they have changed a little since it all started. There are microfiber or all cotton ones, some come in flannel.
But for the most part, they have stayed pretty much the same. This is actually an extremely large change. This product, which I bought at Walmart was totally worth the cost. Its made out of T-shirt cotton and it works well and is so soft … I higly reccomend it to anyone with any length at all. And just in case one of you doubts my veracity and my ability to judge this…
[Top]Some things I found in my travels of the world wide web
I have been ill ad this have spent an inordinate amount of time creating keyboard themes for tiny monetary amounts… And in my travels I have found some kindred spirits and I hope that they find my links to their websites and decide to come visit me and a friendship may bloom…
For right now, keep up with our Facebook page and use it as a discussion space. Post there your thoughts about what you are reading and maybe we will find a way to match readers and conversations will emerge through comments…
Also, I am working hard to find away to let us all chat sharing what we are reading and what we are thinking.. As most of my favorite series are ongoing… It means that speculation is always a fun part of reading the series and sering that every racer brings a different life experience to the reading of the books 📚 which means each of us can bring the one question or offhand comment that rocks our entire understanding of our beloved series…
A Kindred Spirits WordPress Blog!
And there is a neat promotion for the Meredith Gentry figures at another fun webpage and kindred spirit
Fun place to visit and maybe buy (or splurge) on definitely fun items
That’s it for now!
One last thing… Android deals and steals time sensitive
[Top]An interesting read that shows the power of words and regardless of where you are in life the transformation the right book can create
As I read this article I tried to figure out which of my books 📚 would get the golden ticket if o had to pick just one. I can’t do it. When I was little I had an early hard cover edition of Little Women which unfortunately got destroyed when I did something nice for someone and it came back to bite me on the ass. And there is Madeline L’engles A Wrinkle in Time, which was one of my husband’s favorites as well and which I read to my girls as I tried to process his death and somehow reading that book to our children helped me. I don’t know how much they remember of the story, but I know they remember the cuddles and the fact I was reading. Then there is the Great Alta trilogy by Jane Yolen, which inspired me so much, and introduced me to the power and joy that can only come from a trilogy.
I don’t know whether you will consider this necessarily a “book”, but the graphic novels of Elfquest–they had just been rereleased for their 20th anniversary and I was on a trip with my best friends family to Hilton Head, and after being so engrossed in Nora Roberts’ Public Secrets (which is another of my influences as life changing) that I spent the whole day at the beach on my stomach which led to a seriously bad burn which led to my father, who was not a fan of me going on the trip in the first place said that was it I was coming home and he sent me a plane ticket. The trip to the airport was a long one and my back was about 6 shades darker then a lobster(and I was in a lot of pain and the trip back home from the car ride to the airplane seat 💺 I was about ready to throw in the towel and was an exercise in mind over matter and how ( there is nothing to be done but let time pass and eventually you heal) and the only thing left in the car was my friend’s little brother’s graphic novel. They wouldn’t let me take it home (I was on page 87 and myom met me at the gate of the airport and she wasn’t able to find what I was talking about so I made her stop at the waldenbooks on the way home so I could read the end of story which of course, ironically, is finishing with the final quest this year and which I try to reread every 5 to 7 years.
And then I think of the eye opening Kushiel’s trilogy by Jacqueline Carey that opened a whole new world of series and books and a new world and genre of books and a great group of people…
[Top]A Very Very Important Book Birthday….Â
So, I am currently doing my happy dance! Shiloh Walker’s alter ego JC Daniel’s released the sixth book in the Kit Colbana Files Haunted Blade!
This should be a cause for celebration far and wide as Kit continues to be an amazing heroine and keep everyone in line…

The only downside is that this means the wait for Kit Colbana book 7 begins today… But at least we have something new to add to our favorite books list…
[Top]Seanan Mcguire talks about writing and life, a great sweepstakes opportunity and a mea culpa!
So, I may be quiet for a bit…I am in Florida and may lose (well that’s a big question) my home, my life, my books, or just my power and internet…Hopefully I will escape this storm with minor damage, although given the insanity going on around me I may need therapy for PTSD, just kidding kind of…
But back to the important part…There is a giveaway for all of the October Daye series and a bunch of wisdom

On a Night filled with Fear and Anxiety About So Much This Hit Me A Little Bit More Than Usual
I live in Florida and as I said in previous posts, every time a hurricane passes us by is a miracle and as I watched Harvey decimate Texas and Louisiana I was in equal parts inspired and appalled by the men and women who joined together to help, taking any bit they had, be it boats or water, time or money, clothing or food… And appalled by those who made excuses for why they could not help, citing the water unsafe as there was no way to know what might be in them or difficulty in securing transportation or any other thing they could pull out of thin air…
Now we face another hurricane and it is poised to hit Florida and I find myself praying that this one passes us by, although that looks less and less likely as time passes. I am watching my neighbors go insane, making runs on drugstores and supermarkets and discount clubs and I don’t know what to say or do about the insanity I am seeing but it is insanity on a grandiose scale or done large…
And I am binge watching some TV shows as I look around my home wondering how I can take all the irreplaceable things in my home in hours if necessary, finding myself overwhelmed by the prospect of even trying to pack that bag. The wedding albums, my ketubah (the Jewish contract of marriage, of which there is literally one in all of the world as those who have signed in, most noticibly my husband and one of the witnesses, have died in the intervening years), the hours of videotapes from when the girls were born and of course the dog and all of his stuff… Do I take my high-school and college diplomas or the… The list goes on and on into perpetuity. Luckily, as much as it might kill me to lose the physical copies of my books, they exist somewhere on the cloud, so though I will lose their physical copies, I can enjoy them again with the digital versions. And so when a cover of this song played on the TV show that is the background upon which I ponder these questions it hit me harder than it usually would… Forever Young
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young
And now I have to see if I can put my money where my mouth is. Can I believe that as long as my family and I are alive and together the rest of it, no matter how treasured, is irrelevant… I will pray that this storm passes us by and I don’t have to make those choices, but come what may all I can do is my best and hope that somehow it will be enough this time… Although all too often these days it is not…
